Douglas is widely respected around the league and viewed as an excellent choice by the Jets. He gets a long six year contract, a significant commitment by Gang Green. We can only hope that in retrospect that original six year deal will be viewed as just the start of something great.In other news, the Jets are bringing back long time Jets running back Bilal Powell for a ninth season in green and white. With Le’Veon Bell in tow this move is a fairly minor one; however, if Bell were to get injured it will be nice to have Powell ready to step into his familiar role as a top backup and spot starter, assuming Powell is fully recovered from his frightening neck injury. The game was pretty much what you might have expected when perhaps the best defense in the game matches up with a rookie quarterback playing behind a bad offensive line: an abomination.Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold had his work cut out for him, and unfortunately he was unable to overcome the difficult situation he was placed in. The offensive line couldn’t protect Darnold, the running game never got going Kelechi Osemele Jerseys 2019 , and a conservative game plan helped ensure the Jets never got anything going on offenseThe offense wasn’t the only problem. The Jets defense made Blake Bortles look like a star and was rarely able to get stops when they needed them. The secondary was eaten alive by an average set of Jaguars receivers and the Jaguars pretty much did whatever they wanted on offense, eating up the clock and scoring on the first four drives of the game. Even with the Jaguars missing two starters on the offensive line as well as missing Leonard Fournette in the second half, the Jets defense was still thoroughly outplayed.This was truly a team defeat, with the Jets offense, defense and coaching all being thoroughly bested by their Jacksonville counterparts. The Jets have now been outscored 49-15 over the last six quarters. The defense has been destroyed by a rookie in his first NFL action and a career mediocrity in swift succession. The offense has scored 12, 17 and 12 points in the last three games. These are dark times for the New York Jets football team. With the loss the Jets record goes to 1-3, with a formidable schedule of mostly top opponents awaiting them in the immediate future. This could get very ugly.
